The Spring Island Trust Landscape Ecologist makes an average of 170 home site visits each year in response to invitations from landscapers, Spring Island landowners and real estate agents. These visits provide site-specific instruction about how to achieve effective and consistent management of approximately 40% of the habitat on Spring Island, which is composed of these “backyard nature preserves.” Site visits help homeowners improve habitat management of undeveloped portions of their property, as well as encourage native landscaping surrounding their home.
